ASTEL in the RBC magazine: Remote objects in touch. No.5 (22) May 2015

Integration into the Kazakhmys Corporation For large companies with a large number of branches and facilities remote from the head office, the issue of communications - telephony and data transmission - is very acute. To help solve this problem, a service integrator company is called upon, which can offer a whole range of necessary services. ASTEL is such an integrator.

ASTEL is capable of building a data transmission network and organizing telephony for remote objects. ASTEL is a service integrator, one of the leaders in the Kazakhstani telecommunications market. The main activity of the company is the provision of a complex of telecommunication services to its Clients, such as the construction of corporate data and voice networks, Internet access, system integration, technical support. One of the important projects implemented by the integrator was a project for the Kazakhmys Corporation, a giant in the mining and metallurgical industry. Kazakhmys is the largest Kazakh mining company.

Its main activities are ore mining and copper production. In addition, the by-product of the company is the production of silver, gold and zinc. On the territory of Kazakhstan, Kazakhmys has 16 mines and open pits. For the uninterrupted operation of all Kazakhmys facilities, high-speed data transmission channels were required, with the help of which the Corporation could use various corporate applications as conveniently as possible within its own network. Among other things, the Corporation required a single numbering plan for its entire telephone network.

In 2010-2011. a project was developed and implemented to transfer part of the Corporation's telephone network to Iskratel equipment, which made it possible to solve all the set tasks for organizing communications. 12 telephone stations were supplied and connected, interfacing with various channel equipment, including satellite stations, was performed. Until December 2011 Telecommunication projects were actively developed and implemented in the interests of various divisions of the Corporation (Nikolaevsky concentrator, Nikolaevsky mine). Interaction between specialists of both companies was organized at all levels - from production sites to employees of the Information Technology Department of regional offices and specialists of the Development Department. As part of the project, 32 SkyEdge Access terminals manufactured by Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. were installed at all Kazakhmys facilities.

By means of this satellite equipment, for the correct operation of the Corporation's software, a data and telephony network with minimal time delays was organized, which fully meets the technical requirements of the Corporation. As a result of the project, Kazakhmys received a reliable data transmission and telephony network. The specifics of the mining and metallurgical industry implies that the production process at the facilities takes place around the clock. In this regard, enterprises place increased demands on the reliability of the telecommunications network, which must provide fast and guaranteed access to information resources. Corporation "Kazakhmys" managed to get such a network thanks to ASTEL.
