Transtelecom. Internet on Tulpar high-speed train

We provided the satellite Internet access for a high-speed train "Tulpar" (Talgo) on the Astana-Almaty-Astana route. The project was implemented by ASTEL on behalf of the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy management in 2010. The main purpose of ​​the project was to arrange communication channel to the train via satellite antenna, which allowed to keep a reference point to the satellite at high speeds of movement. The signal inside the train was distributed via Wi-Fi. Internet was provided to passengers via broadband channel of satellite communication systems with a coverage area throughout Kazakhstan. Channel bandwidth reached up to 2 Mbps. ASTEL supplied, installed and commissioned special equipment based on technologies of Gilat Satellite Networks, which allowed data, voice and video transmission both in a stationary position and in motion at speeds up to 350 km/h. Talgo reaches a speed of 130-140 km/h.

The project improved train service, providing overwhelming communication services for its passengers and ensuring comfortable travel experience across the territory of Kazakhstan which meets the highest requirements of international standards and rules.
